Laurie Dameron
Peer Support Specialist
I have a BA in Psych from Adams State College ’83 and completed Peer Support Training with Colorado Mental Wellness Network Denver in early 2021.
I completed a Paid Work Experience (internship) through the Division of Vocational Rehab at Windhorse Community Services that was completed at the end of January 2022 and I was then hired as a Peer Support Specialist Team Counselor at the beginning of February 2022. I am thoroughly enjoying working at Windhorse and feel it is helping my personal growth through meditation and contemplative practices that are the foundation of the company.
I am also a professional musician/composer and have been playing the guitar for nearly 50 years and singing even longer. I have performed for hundreds of venues in and out of Colorado over the past 30 years. A broad repertoire folk, blues, and jazz allows me to perform many different venues and situations. I have produced three CDs and currently working on fourth and fifth. I’ve won many song writing awards including a Billboard Magazine World Song Contest in 2008. Also – fun to know – I passed the first round of auditions for America’s Got Talent in Denver in December of 2013.
I’m also an environmental activist and in 2012 started my project Spaceship Earth: What Can I Do? multimedia presentation hoping to inspire folks to be better stewards to our beautiful planet Earth! In 2015 I was elected chair of Environmental and Sustainability Development for Business and Professional Women (BPW) Colorado and currently in that position.
